Abstract
This paper offers an overview of the circulation of Ptolemy’s Almagest during the Renaissance, from the Latin translation made by George of Trebizond (1451) and Regiomontanus’ Epitoma Almagesti (1462) to the printed editions published during the xvi century. The second part of the article is devoted to the study of a copy of Schreckenfuchs’ edition (Basel, 1551) annotated by Ercole Bottrigari (1531-1612), a Bolognese scholar and scientist.
