Abstract

The recent approval of the complex decree No 1 of 2 January, 2018 (Codice della Protezione Civile) is a complete substitution of the very confused Italian legislation on Civil Protection. The code rules the tasks and functions of the "National Service of Civil Protection" by establishing aims, activities (prediction and forecasting, preparedness, management of emergency, risk mitigation and recovery) and the structure of the central, local and society organization. Some considerations about the merits and some deficiencies of this important and valuable reform are drawed herein.
