Abstract

The aim of this article is to highlight the multiple copyright issues raised by the development of digital databases relating to cultural heritage. Questions arise at different levels: at a first level, the possibility of protecting the database itself (whether creative or not) must be investigated. At a different level, the protection accorded to the individual elements forming the content of the database (works of art, audiovisual works, photographs) must be analyzed. Particular attention will be paid to issues relating to the creation and use of the images of works.
