Abstract
The essay focuses on Foucault’s last course at the Collège de France and analyzes the critique of politics based on the philosophical primacy accorded to ethics. This primacy is articulated starting from a new relationship that Foucault establishes between truth and reality, which involves a partial but profound repositioning of the most famous theses supported by Foucault in the texts of the 60s and 70s and arrives at a surprising emancipatory perspective, which takes shape from the analysis of stoic and cynical ethics to expand on the contradictions of the contemporary world.
