From the Food Waste to the Ecological Awareness in Italy

Abstract

In an International and European context increasingly focused to food waste and its related issues, Italy’s current situation is not entirely negative. As evidenced by Waste Watcher 2020 Report, the attention towards food waste, main consumer behaviors and effects on personal and environmental health is constantly scaling up. The survey shows that it is currently defining our perception of the connection between apparently distant issues such as food waste and consumption, personal health and environment. In the next surveys it will be interesting to understand if this trend is steady. Meanwhile, it is important to record that for the first time in the years of Waster Watcher monitoring there is a change of direction.
