Abstract
Fascism, since its origins, glorified innovation and technology, obtaining wide consensus among technicians and engineers. Therefore, the 20s and the 30s are a pivotal period to analyze the relationship - destined to find other crucial turning points in the following history of republican Italy - between politics and technology in Italy. This paper reconstructs the history of the Ministry of National Economy between 1925 and 1928 and the 'technocratic' plan of minister Giuseppe Belluzzo. as an engineer, he proposed a precise road map for the development of the institution. "Trait-d'union" between the industrialists and Mussolini, he established a strong personal bond with the fascist leader. Nevertheless, Belluzzo, as this paper reconstructs, clashed against other institutions of the regime and was forced, eventually, to abandon his own project.
