Abstract

A data-base on the frequency of orthographic syllables in written Italian is presented. The data are based on a set of 11.829.309 word occurrences (tokens) corresponding to 143.970 word types. The set derives from the Italian Reference Corpus of the Istituto di Linguistica Computazionale of the National Research Council. The number of syllables identified is 2.714 for a total of 26.875.277 occurences. For each syllable, the following indexes have been considered: total frequency, positional frequency, the frequency of monosyllabic words, and the frequency of the final syllable.
