Abstract

In present study has been proposed to enhance visuo-spatial and geometric skills, through the application of an experimental training on mental rotation ability. The aim was to evaluate the effects of specific mental rotation training (Animal Rotation Training) on the performance of 45 children was 8 to 10 years, attending the fourth grade of primary school. Secondly, it has been analysed the generalization of the effect of the training on geometry achievement, on general cognitive abilities, such as visuo-spatial reasoning skills and spatial relations recognition and on a control measure of verbal reasoning. The results showed an improvement in performance that is not limited to specific mental rotation tests, but is also generalized to geometry achievement.
