Abstract
In the verbal working memory task, proposed by De Beni, Palladino, Pazzaglia and Cornoldi (1998), a subject produces an intrusion error when s/he erroneously recalls irrelevant information previously presented. The number of intrusions is related to the efficiency of working memory control as several researches showed that participants with a low working memory performance produce a higher number of intrusions and particularly of more processed information. However, words more activated are also words belonging to the same category. With the introduction of words belonging to a second category, we wanted to exclude that the fact of belonging to a category could influence the production of intrusion errors.
