Abstract
The paper investigates the impact of the globalization process on secular-humanist associations and their activities. It highlights the historical evolution of these associations, from their anticlerical origins in the 19th century to today’s multiple purposes. The new secular-humanist associations pursue proactive aims and they are active in the defense of fundamental rights and freedoms. The paper also analyzes some problematic aspects concerning the legal status of these associations in some European States.
