Abstract
The contribution proposes an analysis of the implementation of bilateralism in the pontificate of Pope Francis, starting with a synthetic reconstruction of his vision of the relationship between the Church and the political community and then focusing on his action at the international level and on the expansion of the concordat activity that followed, above all with African and Asian countries once considered «peripheral» with respect to the Catholic world. The study closes with some observations on the peculiar Italian case.
