Abstract
In order to defend the principle of State "laïcité", France has introduced specific bans on civil servants' faith manifestations for a long time. However, this system has shown its own inconsistencies in the case of a private organisation's employee performing a service of public interest. In fact, the Court of Cassation has allowed a kindergarten teacher to wear a headscarf on the work premises, drawing criticism from across the nation.
