Abstract
On the one hand the essay describes the most relevant issues concerning the Austrian law maker ("Islamgesetz" reform, February 25th, 2015) and the Swiss constituency (the "referendum" held in Switzerland on November 29th, 2009, to ban the building of minarets). On the other, it aims to outline the importance of such reforms in the European social and juridical context. The Author concludes with some remarks about the relevance of these events for the Italian context and the eventual impact of the new European trends on the interpretation of the principle of religious freedom in Italy.
