Abstract

This article aims to highlight the main aspects of State regulation of personal status in the Indian context. In fact, in matters such as family and succession, notwithstanding the recurring debate on the adoption of a Uniform Civil Code, State Courts apply different rules to Hindus, Muslims and those belonging to other religious traditions. The article aims to describe the Indian State legislation in this field and to point out the complexity of this aspect of the Indian legal system.
