Abstract
This article starts by describing the importance of freedom of religion and what it means. In describing it's meaning reference is made to the SA Charter of Religious Rights and Freedoms. The article then continues to describe how a report on the Commercialisation of Religion and the Abuse of Peoples Belief Systems from the SA Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities threatens freedom of religion in South Africa. On the foundation of the SA Charter of Religious Rights and Freedoms the Report is analysed and it is pointed out what is needed to protect freedom of religion in SA.
