Abstract
Starting from a personal memory the author reconstructs some highlights of Romagnoli reflections quoting some his well-known metaphors. The study investigates his specific approach to labour law that combines historical analysis with critical debate on the worker’s changing conditions in the modern era. Finally, the essay examines the Italian Supreme Court most recent case-law on the Italian Constitution Art. 36.1 as a fundamental right to a sufficient remuneration, supporting the idea that it is one of possible corrective actions to face the decline of workers protection, able to contradict the “de-constitutionalisationµ of labour law denounced by Umberto Romagnoli
