Abstract
The essay deals with the recent evolution of Spanish labour law, particularly describing the role of the s.c. "social contract". The author illustrates the contents of the "reforma laboral" of 1994 and takes into consideration the "Real Decreto Ley n. 8/1997", which is the outcome of an agreements between the social partners and the Government and which is articulated in three different agreements: the first about "estabilidad del empleo", whose main issue is the reinforcement of the labour contract without fixed term; the second about "negociacion colectiva", which reorganises the competence of the different levels of collective bargaining; and finally the agreement about the "cobertura de vacios" which deals with the possible gaps in the legal system as a consequence of the abrogation of the fascist legislation.
