Abstract
The Author describes in first place the heritage of the past as regards the fundamental social rights in the former socialist Hungarian constitution. In particular, it is analysed the role of the Constitutional Court. Then the basic constitutional principles relevant for labour law are taken into consideration. Finally, it is described the importance of constitutional principles for the evolution of labour law. A specific attention is dedicated to the conflict between the right to dignity and trade unions rights.
