Abstract
The essay aims at investigating the systemic interference between the evolution of law and the federal institutions as well as their effects on the collective bargaining structure at different levels: between the two factors there is not a direct link neither a clear independence. This point of view is illustrated by three real examples of the co-evolution existing between federal institutions and collective bargaining structure. In the final part the Author, conscious of the importance of an approach that starts from the interference between labour law and institutional engineering, gives some suggestions about federalism at a supranational level.
