Abstract

The presidential term, as initially voted in the Philadelphia Convention, has a seven-year length. From that moment on, the article reconstructs the debate on the duration of the presidential term that is one of the fundamental characteristics of one Republic identity. The seven- year term is therefore realized in France; and from there, it spreads into different European systems, up to Italy, where it remains as its purest manifestation.
