Violence in the couple: some generational differences

Abstract

Developing analyses on a nationwide data sample drawn from «Indagine sulla Sicurezza delle Donne» (2006), this paper aims at investigate two main research questions: is violence against women in intimate relationships increasing? Are there generational differences in women seeking-help to the health care? Findings highlighted huge birth cohorts dissimilarities: intimate partner violence seems more frequent among older women. Younger women are less inclined to disclose violent episodes to the health care than older ones, whereas younger women are more likely to seek informal help than their older counterparts.
