Abstract
Ethical implications of neuroenhacement are discussed. In particular, possible advantages the participants of a research study can benefit from are taken into account. Even though the study is aimed at empowering participants’ skills in a given domain, the researchers have to pay attention to the effects that the intervention can produce on self-conceptions, since the belief that improvements are generated only by external factors rather than personal engagement might be indirectly elicited.
