Abstract
The assessment of the intellectual profile of children with SLD through the WISCIV Scale shows evidence of their weakness in ML and VE, but normal scores in the other subtests. Alphanumeric material in the WISC-IV ML tests can influence the results. Therefore we administered the Leiter-3 nonverbal scale, which includes measures of ML and VE (linked to attention), to 33 children with SDL and the same number with typical development (TD), balanced by gender and age. To a subgroup (12 with DSA, 12 with TD) we also administered the WISC-IV and the CPM. The results confirm many observations reported in the literature also in the case of Leiter-3, in particular concerning general intelligence, processing speed and forward span, but show that a general WM weakness is not replicated with the Leiter-3
