Abstract

The aims of the survey are to know: the frequency and characteristics of the use of play in the clinical practice of Italian psychologists, how many of them received a specific training on it and know Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT). An online survey was prepared to investigate: use, characteristics and knowledge of the practice of play in the therapeutic setting. The questionnaire was sent by email and was completed by 222 psychologists and psychotherapists. 55% of them stated that they frequently use the play in clinical practice, 69% report using it without specific training or theoretical/methodological framework even though they feel the need for specific training on it. Only 7% said they knew something about CBPT.
