Abstract

This paper illustrates a dialogic reading path called “Dialoguing with Leo Lionni’s storiesµ, implemented by teachers and aimed at kindergarten children. The model involves 5 meetings per week (of approximately 20-30 minutes) for a duration of 4 weeks. During the course 10 books are proposed to be read: 2 books for each meeting and each book is to be read 4 times. In this paper we document the model taken by 2 teachers with 2 groups of children (10 children each; age 4 years). We present and discuss three objectives of the application of the proposed model, its effectiveness in promoting an increase in children’s vocabulary, and the teachers’ enjoyment of the experience.
