Abstract

Gender Dysphoria is a clinical area currently crossed by important divisions and controversies, connected primarily with the need to reconcile scientific research and social rights. The article points out the crisis of the so-called affirmative model of gender identity in light of recent reviews of scientific literature in this field and the related emerging doubts about its outcomes on the physical and psychological health of the subjects involved. Based on these indications, it calls for greater caution in social, hormonal and surgical transition pathways and for the recovery of the psychotherapeutic and exploratory approach as a first-line approach to such clinical conditions
