Abstract
In today’s art system, the definition of Kassel «documenta» as an international exhibition of contemporary works of art is, in reality, very reductive. This is even so if one considers the entire history of the fifteenth edition of the exhibition. This article reflects on how documenta represents much more than just a contemporary art exhibition as political, social, and economic interests are centred in the artistic debate. In the second part, the article deals in more detail with the case of its last edition and its important impact on the curatorial question
