Abstract
Inclusion and socialization in peer groups are crucial processes since early childhood. In order to provide a new and integrative framework for understanding these processes, Levine and Moreland's theoretical model has been applied to preschool children. After a brief description of the model, a comprehensive review of researches on the group socialization process (exploration, entry strategies and socialization) has been examined. Subsequently, both group and individual factors affecting this process have been taken into consideration. Finally, the importance of considering socialization as an interactive process between the group and the child since preschool age has been highlighted.
