Abstract

The paper presents a review of over twenty years in the life of «CIAN-Revista de Historia de las Universidades». The paper, as a sort of scientific catalogue, analyses the context in which the journal was born, analogous projects and publications in Spain and other European countries, its organisational structure, collaborations, and the main themes of its 23 issues. The paper intends to analyse the journal’s founding principles and evolution, as well as its historiographical content that has contributed substantially to enriching the study of the history of universities. In addition, it evidences the journal’s strengths as well as its weaknesses that are still evident and need addressing in the immediate future. Undoubtedly, the journal aspires to achieve greater recognition and to make a greater impact, and its objectives in the near future are precisely these
