Abstract

Starting from the history of white feminism, its interactions with black feminism, and its effects on the work of Afro-descendant artists in America and Italy, this article analyzes the lives, films, and activism of Daphne Di Cinto, Ira Fronten and Laila Petrone. Through a transnational and intersectional approach it is clear that these artists and their works present the image of a multi-ethnic and multicultural Italy that goes beyond the national borders but, especially in cinema, also reflects a social reality that is often racist and misogynist, and still suffers from colonial and patriarchal legacy
