Abstract

The article reconstructs the late Merleau-Ponty’s reflection on the Flesh to underline how this concept is fundamental to think the co-implication of oxymoronic realities such as visible and invisible, thought and matter, contingency and necessity. With this theoretical background, the article focuses in particular on Merleau-Ponty’s reading of Proust to show how love experience is bounded to a contingency which is also its most intimate necessity.
