Abstract

Dystopias radically depend on history: they originate in the very socio-political context whose short-term consequences they intend to prevent and defy. There is therefore no way of really understanding their contents without conceiving of their situatedness. The dystopias which are here taken into account are only a small portion of the most recent ones: the ones originating at the very heart of Europe and fearing the emergence of new forms of totalitarianism which could possibility easily overwhelm an inattentive citizenship through bureaucratic and/or health care control.
