Abstract
This article explores the meanings of violence within Italian trap culture based on a virtual ethnography and interviews with 57 respondents among trappers and followers. These methods were conducted on Instagram where such culture produces and consumes their contents that serve as reputation building, but also shed light on the instrumentalisation of criminality. Crime works as a style of production and consumption where trap members stage, record, post, watch, and react to the imitative products of existing mediated crime based on cultural imaginaries of crime fiction series and American trap. This study contributes to the cultural criminology research from Italy
