Abstract

The article explores some texts by theologian Karl Rahner, particularly those focusing on «everyday mysticism». Through this lens, it is possible to plumb the depths of experience and there discover that the unconscious and implicit side of life is inhabited by a mystery touching every living being. As a consequence, a new idea of logos arises, a logos that from its origin is interwoven with pathos, and is thus capable of ethos. Human freedom therefore gives birth not only to the singular subject, but also to its relationship is also played out with the sacred. This relationship is inevitable and relentless, though it may not be conscious. The gain is also symbolic, more than just a practical one: we acquire a language with the ability to narrate how transcendence is and has always been about life itself.
