Abstract
In this paper we are going to observe the modalities in which the palatal nasal [η(:)] and the phonic sequences [ηg], [ηdξ] are represented in the “Greek-Romance scriptaµ. After having examined the main Romance texts in Greek alphabet, we will try to analyse and classify some unusual spellings, which do not seem to correspond to their typical values: on the one hand <γν> e <νγν>, presumably encoding [ηdξ], on the other hand <νγγ>, <γγ> and <γ>, presumably encoding [η(:)]. This spellings can be explained as cases of exclusively graphic methatesis, without an actual correspondence in the pronunciation.
