Abstract

The voice and smile represent some of the features that markedly characterize Beatrice, the only character alongside that of Dante that runs through the entire work of the poet. But voice and smile constitute the synthesis of the cognitive experience, mixed of emotion and science, which Dante reaches in the third treatise of the Convivio: in the wake of Boethius, and in the light of the first letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians, the Florentine poet translates the discursive logic of science dimension in the affective one of Solomonic love for Wisdom.
