Abstract
The essay would like to constitute a first reflection about the figuration of the feminine in the Divine Comedy, according to a specific perspective, represented by gender studies. The term “feminineµ will therefore not be taken exclusively as an adjective relating to the qualities relevant to an abstract subject “womanµ, but rather to mean the set of cultural constructions that define and transmit characteristics, roles, behaviors, values as female (and / or male), as established by the gender category. This perspective will focus on some passages of Dante’s masterpiece: Inferno, V, IX and XIII; Purgatory, V and Paradiso, III.
