Abstract
According to recent historiography, which has considered the fww as the ideological, psychological and mythopoeic matrix of the following years, if not of the whole XX century and beyond, the present essay aims at supplying a new reading of the memoirs of the war within a wider frame or in the context of a debate referring to a literary production focused on topics such as truth document and testimony. All this documentation, dating back to the years of the first conflict, although finding its complete manifestation during Neorealism, that is in the period of the Second World War, has its roots in the years of the fww.
