Abstract
The author argues that the prose translations composed by Leopardi between 1822 and 1827 should be considered as a whole, isofar as they keep ancient illusions and values alive, replacing the role of poetry at a time when Leopardi adheres in his "Operette morali" to a nichilistic view.
