Abstract
The note summarizes Natalino Sapegno's Dante studies on the margin of the publication of a lecture, unpublished yet, given by the critic in 1965 during the celebrations he took part in. During the 1960s, he paid special attention to the historical development of Dante's criticism and arrived to interpret the Divine Comedy as "true historicism". This concept assured at last a reading of the poem that puts together the structure and the poetry in an organic view.
