Abstract
The paper analyzes the novel "Il piatto dell'angelo" (2013) by Laura Pariani, whose style is characterized by fragments and alienating pieces. The novel covers the issue of emigration exposed through a narrative that becomes more and more collective on, headed by multiple looks, apparently opposite but complementary. The chapter "Yesterday" is dedicated to Italian emigration of the early twentieth century; while the chapter "Today" to South America women arriving in Italy. Within the novel an autobiographical vein and one relating to the stories of contemporary women's emigration are alternated, with the development of some commonplaces of the migrant literature.
