Abstract
The essay attempts to sketch a general overview of man of letters Girolamo Bartolommei (ca. 1584-1662) and of his personal collection of melodramas, "Drammi musicali" (1656). I provide textual examples to focus on the subjects of style and genre. A section isdedicated to the relation between poetry and music within the collection and to author's theatrical-musical orientation. In addition, I underline the relevance by Bartolommei's operation (putting together and publishing his auto-anthology of opera librettos to read) from a macro-textual point of view.
