Abstract
"Dalla parte di lei" (Mondadori, 1949), Alba de Céspedes' novel, arouses a widespread attention by many intellectuals: the author, who lived in Washington from the summer of 1948 to the first months of 1952, could follow the national and international reception of her novel. Novelists and critics started an intense epistolary exchange with the author, communicating their opinions and informing about the debates on specific topics of the novel in the intellectual circles. This essay aims to analyze the most influential and strict critical voices of that period, namely the reviews by Emilio Cecchi, Pietro Pancrazi and Goffredo Bellonci.
