Abstract

The building complex between Via di San Paolo alla Regola, Via del Conservatorio, Via delle Zoccolette and Via dei Pettinari, better known as "insula di San Paolo alla Regola", is an extraordinary example of the reuse of ancient constructions without a solution of continuity, from the first Augustine phase until our days. The intention of this work is to present the first results of a research that was started by a thesis is in Architecture - Restoration at the Faculty of Architecture of the Università degli Studi Roma Tre, favoured by the collaboration with the Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali. The objective was to propose a three-dimensional representation of the building complex to recognize and understand its successive aggregation of volumes belonging to the various historical building phases.
