Abstract
In 1868 renowned Sienese carver Pietro Giusti (1822-1873) took an important commission from the City of Turin, for the design of a small golden chest, a marriage gift Princess Margherita di Savoia, which is now lost. The discovery of some drawings for the small chest in Turin and Siena gives the opportunity to analyze this important item, and is a chance for a preliminary enquiry on Giusti's little-known activity in Turin, not only as an artist, but also as a scholar and as a teacher for the Regio Museo Industriale Italiano.
