Abstract

Specialists in digital philology have developed theories and research practices that are not always effective in meeting the demands of traditional textual criticism. This article proposes a scenario in which this mainstream model is complemented by a perspective more attentive both to the dynamics of the manuscript tradition and to the goal of the critical edition. The proposal concerns in particular ancient Italian texts, for which a shared procedure of digital treatment could be provided.
