Abstract

In 2021 Wikipedia turned 20 years old. From 2001 to the present has become one of the most important actors helping to define what will be considered the historical truth of an event. Reconstructing the imaginary connected with Wikipedia offers us an original perspective with which to analyze the development of the most important contemporary digital encyclopedia. Results show how in less than two decades has gone from being considered a threat to public knowledge to one of its main guarantors. Nevertheless, Wikipedia has a problem with the generational turnover of its community. Managing it will be the main element that can ensure the survival of this encyclopedic project.
