Abstract
This article deals with pursuing competitive situations and its relationship with scholastic adjustment. The study was carried out on 360 children aged 8-9 years. To asses pursuing competitive situations we developed a 3 item questionnaire for peer nomination and teacher evaluation. To assess scholastic adjustment we collected data concerning academic achievement (self evaluation and teacher evaluation) and socio-metric status (peer nomination). The results verify: 1) the validity of the 3 item questionnaire we developed to assess pursuing competitive situations; 2) a positive correlation between pursuing competitive situations and scholastic adjustment.
