Abstract
Religion still plays a central role in Egypt’s social, political, and legal context. Therefore, the protection of freedom of religion or belief first requires the full enactment of citizenship rights to enable everyone to exercise their rights under the law without distinction as to religion or belief or lack thereof. Education and interreligious dialogue are likely to remain the two key areas where threats to religious pluralism can be most successfully tackled.
