Abstract
On October 24, 2023, the Piedmont region enacted Regional Law No. 22 of October 5, 2023, titled «Provisions on communications concerning children of separated parents and awareness of the establishment of the shared parenting register». This legislation, comprising five concise articles, aims to enhance the rights of children to shared parenting. Accordingly, it mandates that all communications within the regional jurisdiction concerning a child be forwarded to each parent upon request by at least one of them. Moreover, it advocates for the establishment of municipal shared parenting registries. An examination of this law reveals that certain provision introduced are redundant and may foster ambiguity, potentially exacerbating parental conflict. Furthermore, it underscores the significant evolution of sub national family law and the tendency of regions to adopt the strategy of so-called «copycat laws», often conceived as flagship legislation by a particular political party for replication in other territorial contexts.
